Five Ideas for Your Wedding Colour Scheme
The look and feel of your wedding fundamentally starts with having a colour scheme. Your chosen colours create synchronicity across all areas of your wedding, bringing harmony and unity to what would otherwise be very disparate areas of your wedding.
To get you started with some ideas, I have put together five very different colour schemes that will appeal to a variety of tastes, from subdued tones to bright palettes. Have a look and let me know which ones are your favourite!
Pink & Grey
Pink, grey and navy are very classic colours. They’re so classic, you’ve probably been to a pink and grey/navy wedding yourself, and there’s a reason they’re the go-to colours of choice; you really can’t go wrong with them. They’re safe and it’s almost impossible to create disharmony between those shades.
Bridesmaids can look pretty in pink, with the groomsmen donning a shade of grey slightly different to the groom’s and it wouldn’t even matter what shade of grey, because it’ll work. Pink flowers are easy to come by, and a softness and charm can be added with the inclusion of roses and pretty cherry blossoms.
Dark Teal & Burnt Orange
I love a burnt orange and teal. It’s probably obvious from my chosen brand colours, but there’s something about a dark, toasty orange that’s just beautiful and inviting. Coupled with teal and we have perfection.
With the burnt orange, you can really lean into bright wooden textures to create a bohemian look and then bring in a touch of chic with teal coloured accessories, which will add some well needed contrast. Your decor will be popping but you can easily soften the tones with some tamer colours like cream and eucalyptus.
Burgundy & Grey
I’m here to represent team burgundy and grey!
My wedding colours were everything I wanted and more. The wedding venue itself already brought a lot of monochrome to the table and so what I needed was a bright colour that would really stand out against the various whites, blacks, greys and silvers.
Red is already a colour that attracts attention against other colours but with the deepness of burgundy, where a standard red would have been too harsh, a grandness was added to my colour scheme, and it worked brilliantly in balancing out the grey.
Aubergine & Olive
Weddings are a bright and joyous occasion but the perception of magnificence can be achieved with a dark and almost gloomy colour scheme. Purple, olives and blacks aren’t your typical wedding colour palettes, but when done right, they can bring about a uniqueness that will be remembered for years to come.
Have aubergine as the main colour with hints and highlights of olive decorative features. A touch of lilac will go a long way in bringing down the darkness and then you can consider dark purple tableware to offset the white of the table linen, or vice versa.
Neutrals
There really isn’t much to be said about neutrals. I know they work, you know they work, so they’re very well worth considering.
Grandioseness and opulence are easily conveyed and a touch of pastel colours adds diversity to what could easily become a very plain scheme.
