Keeping Your Centrepieces True to You

When we think table centrepieces, flowers usually come to mind. And flowers can be the perfect centrepiece because they add beauty and grace to any room. But what if you’re looking to do something a little more you but don’t know where to start? I’ve put together some ideas that I think would be fun yet classy.

Wedding Decanter Centrepiece

Wine Decanters

My husband fancies himself a wine connoisseur so we saw that as a great opportunity to present his interests to our guests in the form of decanter centrepieces.

Each table name was of a particular grape variety and within the decanters were the wines that represented that grape.

My husband brought a bit of himself to our decor and not only did it look beautiful but it also served a functional purpose.

Plus you can never have too much wine at a wedding.

A Stack of Books

Reading is a popular pastime activity and a stack of books is an easy way to create an effective and representative expression of yourself.

You could include some of your favourite authors amongst each stack or sources of knowledge that have shaped who you are as a person.

Books come in all sorts of styles so you won’t struggle to find ones that work with the look you’re going for.

To keep things to theme, you can consider naming each table after some of your favourite books or genres.

Eiffel Tower Model

Models of Attractions You've Visited

For those of you who like to travel, this is a great way to transport your guests to some of the places you been and attractions you’ve seen.

You can have to-scale models of the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben and even the Burj Khalifa. Maybe the pyramids, the Taj Mahal or the Statue of Liberty.

There are many things to see around the world so you’ll pretty much be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing which attractions to use.

Then of course, the obvious thing would be to name each table after your chosen model.

Desserts

Why bring your guests to the dessert table, when you can bring the dessert table to your guests?

This is a wonderful way of adding beauty to your tables with delicate cupcakes and sweet treats. You can have multi-tier dessert stands to create a grander look or keep things simple with a decorative cake stand.

Your guests will probably appreciate having the goodies right at their finger tips.

Then you can bring it all together with cupcake flavour inspired table names. Red velvet anyone?

Black Decorative Chess Pieces

Giant Chess Pieces

If you love chess, then this one is for you.

Chess pieces can come in absolutely beautiful designs and there’s no doubt you’ll be able to find some that speak to you.

You can even buy plain pieces and decorate them to your colour scheme, or keep things simple with plain materials like glass and wood.

Table names will obviously then be named after each chess piece although I’m not sure I’d want to be on table pawn!

Go Vintage

Vintage is an aesthetic that many brides and grooms go for. Lots of vintage devices are intrinsically stunning and so it’s very low effort to make them look good.

If your wedding theme is one of the decades of the 1900s then these will fit well as table centrepieces.

Perhaps your hobby is photography, writing or sewing? Old cameras, typewriters and sewing machines won’t go amiss. Or maybe you want to do a throwback to the 90s? An old school boombox would fit right in.

Table names can then correspond to the years that some of these devices were invented.
